Program Overview

The Educational purpose

Kagoshima University does of-instruction research of the special arts and sciences deeply while giving knowledge widely, and it is established intellectual, moral, and for the purpose of training the capable talented people who are made to develop applied capability, have and contribute to improvement in scientific culture (the 1st article per school regulations [ of Chapter 1 ] Section [ the ]). In response, the mechanical engineering program aims at training of the engineer and researcher which can fight against many problems which modern society faces bearing human beings’ welfare in mind actively and which has the pursuit heart, the advanced special capability which was full of creativity, and which is accepted internationally, and synthetic and independent judgment.

Study and Educational Target

It is only well versed in the knowledge of a special field of study, and he understands the ethics and social meaning of expertise in the graduate of the mechanical engineering program , and it has the capability which discerns the influence technology affects earth environment and an ecosystem in him it not only can demonstrate consideration capability and application deployment capability, but, and he is expected to become the engineer who can play an active part internationally, and a researcher.

So, in this subject of study, the following things are set as study / educational target.

  • A) the humanities containing the “engineer ethics” of “the occupation people and the practical ethics” of common education, “present-day ethics and Japanese society”, and engineering basic education — raising the knowledge which can learn beyond the unit that was able to define the subject about – social science, and can consider harmony of considering that welfare is happy and human beings’ energy and environment, a human being, society, etc.
  • B) Support the capability which learns the knowledge of the compulsory subject of the common education and engineering basic education about natural science and an information technology including mathematics and physics, and the elective subject beyond the defined unit as basic knowledge of mechanical engineering, and applies them to study of a specialized education subject flexibly.
  • C) Support the capability to learn the knowledge of three or more elective subjects as technical knowledge in two of the compulsory subject of the specialized education about the main fields (material, the dynamics of a machine and measurement, control and robotics mechatronics and a design, production and energy, and flow) of mechanical engineering, and the four above-mentioned fields, respectively, and to apply them to problem solving free.
  • D) Through graduation research etc., apply synthetically the knowledge of science, mechanical engineering, and information, analyze an engineering problem independently, and support the design capability to solve.
  • E) Heighten the capability to describe correctly the capability to think of [ the right reason of problem solving ] by extending a viewpoint and deepening the theme through the investigation to problem solving, consideration, thinking, judgment, discussion, an announcement, etc., and its reason, and to convey them, and the fundamental capability of the foreign language utilized at a still more international place.
  • F) Heighten the capability learned actively and continuously and the capability to plan and carry out work actively and to summarize the process, through an experiment, training, an exercise, and graduation research.
    G) Heighten the capability to independently and continuously improve one’s own abilities throughout life.
